Slovak Convention Bureau

The Slovak Convention Bureau is your partner for any and all meetings, incentives, conventions and events you plan to hold in Slovakia.

The Slovak Convention Bureau was established in October 2010. The main goal of SCB is to actively promote Slovakia and its congress potential thus ensuring a growth of events in the specific regions of Slovakia, supporting tourism in regions and supporting promotion of individual member subjects.

The Slovak Convention Bureau is a non-profit entity working as an organizational unit of the Slovak Tourist Board. SCB was established on public-private partnership to offer a one-stop-shop for advice on bringing events to Slovakia.

We provide the following services:

  • a wide scale of complex current information and to take over the guarantee for the quality of organization of congress tourism events in a special way
  • Helping you to find the most suitable conference venues and hotel accommodation
  • Assisting you in choosing local partners and acting as your first point of contact with Slovak suppliers - conference venues, hotels, destination management companies (DMCs) and incentive agencies
  • Coordinating site inspection visits that are tailor made to your requirements
  • Preparing bid documents for decision makers
  • Providing promotional material
The establishing members of the SCB are: the Slovak Tourist Board, the Capital City of Bratislava, Incheba Expo P.l.c., the Grand Hotel Bellevue, High Tatras and the Bratislava Region. Negotiations are being held with other potential members, who have expressed interest in joint coordination of conference and event organizing.

From economic point of view congress tourism as a part of MICE (meetings, incentives, congress/conferences, events) for a long time belongs to the most profitable forms of tourism, it brings profit to entrepreneurs, town, region, balances seasonality.

Slovak Convention Bureau is a newly created organization which benefits from its affiliation with the national tourism organisation – Slovak Tourist Board and from its partnership with key providers of MICE services.

The reasons for establishment of the Slovak Convention Bureau (SCB) are:

  • Presentation of Slovakia as a destination for congress tourism.
  • Information, help and support for organisers of events, professional associations in all stages of preparation of tender bids (bid book);
  • Participation in meetings and annual meetings of international associations in the sector with the objective to create a network and share experience with foreign partners.
  • To promote co-operation with key interest groups in individual spheres with the objective to achieve success in the selection of Slovakia as a location for organization of important events for corporate or other clientele.
  • Proactively offer support and assistance in each stage of events of this type and help in the preparation of the so-called candidate´s bid including recommendations of the location, to provide a wide scale of complex current information and to assume guarantees for the organization of MICE events.
  • To provide help in the selection of local partners and to act as the first point of contact with Slovak contractors - conference premises, hotels, destination management companies and motivation agencies which are members of SCB.
  • Coordination of infotours and inspection tours tailored according to the requirements of international associations and corporate clientele.
  • Providing of SCB promotional material.

SCB provides the following services for its members:
  1. SCB uses the solid name of the national tourist organization.
  2. SCB give references to its members about strong opportunities in all spheres of MICE events, i.a. it organizes infotours for prominent journalists and inspection tours.
  3. SCB provides the possibility to obtain a mark of congress and conference credibility for its members and the possibility to use SCB logo in communication with partners.
  4. The possibility to present members at foreign events and support of their products at exhibitions and fairs.
  5. The possibility to obtain a list of all contacts from fairs, workshops and presentations if the member is not able to attend them.
  6. Web site of SCB (www.slovakconvention.sk) is a primary source of information and activities of SCB. The web site will include also a web calendar of events. Key information about coming MICE events is accessible only for SCB members.
  7. Address book of members (a list of members) is publicly accessible on the web site www.slovakconvention.sk with direct links to home pages of all members.
  8. SCB prepares to issue a regular newsletter as well as press releases and the members may participate in research carried out by the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR).
  9. SCB plans to print and distribute a prestigious publication Meeting Planners’ Guide (a printed as well as an electronic version) which is to be distributed through all SCB and SACR lines. The members will be included in the brochure free of charge. Its electronic version will be available also on the web site.
  10. Through SACR SCB becomes a member of ICCA and other international tourism organizations any by means of this membership it may participate in specialized international events.
